SUPREME COURT ASSOCIATE JUDGE APPOINTMENT
The Supreme Court of British Columbia welcomes the appointment of Associate Judge Amy Peck in Vancouver. For more information about Associate Judge Peck, please see the news release issued by the Attorney General of British Columbia. Information about a public welcoming ceremony for Associate Judge Peck will be posted on the Court's website.

OPTION FOR DEFENCE COUNSEL TO RECEIVE CERTAIN REPORTS ELECTRONICALLY
The Supreme Court registry has implemented an option for defence counsel of record to receive certain reports in criminal proceedings electronically by secure file transfer electronic mail. The process mirrors the one already established in the Provincial Court. Instructions on how defence counsel of record may submit their consent to receive reports electronically is set out in a Notice available here. The Notice is also posted on the Court's website under Criminal Practice Directions, under the heading "Notices, Memoranda and Information Sheets". The prescribed form is available here (Notice of electronic mail address and consent (ADM882)). Anyone with questions should please contact the local Supreme Court criminal registry (not Scheduling).

PD-69 - Requirements for Written Submissions in Civil and Family Proceedings
Chief Justice Skolrood has issued PD-69 - Requirements for Written Submissions in Civil and Family Proceedings, with an effective date of September 8, 2025. PD-69 sets out requirements in civil and family law proceedings for providing written submissions to the Court, including that written submissions must be filed. PD-69 will rescind AN-19 - Cover Page Requirements for Written Submissions when it comes into effect on September8, 2025.

COURT OPERATIONS - 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP - CHANGING MODE OF TRIAL
As the Court has previously announced, there will be no civil jury trials in Vancouver,
New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, Abbotsford or Chilliwack between June 12 ‐ July 8, 2026 ("FIFA period").
The Court invites a parties or counsel who have filed and served a Notice Requiring Trial
by Jury for a trial scheduled during the FIFA period to express their desire to change the
mode of trial from a jury trial to a judge alone trial by completing and submitting this
form.
Changing the mode of trial to judge alone will preserve the currently scheduled trial dates; however, as is always the case, the Court cannot guarantee that a trial judge will be available on the scheduled dates.

FEEDBACK INVITED: CIVIL AND FAMILY CHAMBERS PRACTICE REVIEW
The Court has struck a Civil and Family Chambers Practice Working Group to review the current practices and procedures for both regular (short) and long chambers, and to consider potential changes with a view to providing a more timely and efficient chambers process. The Court invites interested members of the bar, litigants, organizations, and the public to comment on the issues they see arising in chambers practice and provide suggestions for improvement. JUDICIAL RETIREMENT - ASSOCIATE JUDGE CAROLYN P. BOUCK
The Supreme Court of British Columbia announces that Associate Judge Carolyn P. Bouck retired from the Supreme Court of British Columbia at Victoria on June 30, 2025. Associate Judge Bouck was appointed to the Supreme Court on December 11, 2009.
