Associate Judge - Application Process

Applications for Associate Judge positions must be completed in accordance with the instructions below.

  1. Job Posting and Application Access
  2. The BC Public Service Agency Posting sets out the qualifications and application requirements.

  3. Position Profile
  4. A full description of the accountabilities and qualifications for the Associate Judge position is provided in the Associate Judge Job Profile attached to the BC Public Service Agency Posting.

  5. Application Deadline & Submission Requirements
  6. Review the detailed application requirements outlined below (in addition to the Position Posting). Your completed application must include the items listed below and must be submitted in the manner described:

    • Applications for the Associate Judge position will be accepted until date and time noted on the BC Public Service Job Opportunity website.

    • Completed online basic questionnaire via the BC Public Service Job Opportunity website.

      IMPORTANT: The online questionnaire on the BC Public Service Job Opportunity website is very short, but it cannot be saved and will time out after 60 minutes, and you will lose any information you have entered.

    • Current résumé or curriculum vitae via the BC Public Service Job Opportunity website.

    • Cover letter via the BC Public Service Job Opportunity website.

    • Completed comprehensive questionnaire, attached HERE.

    • Submit comprehensive questionnaire via email to: competitions@bccourts.ca.

      • Email Subject line: Email subject line should read:
        LAST NAME, First Name - AJ Comprehensive Questionnaire

      • ATTACH File: Attach completed Comprehensive Questionnaire in PDF format,
        named the same as email subject line.

  7. Application Review Process
  8. Applications are reviewed by the panel. All candidates will be notified regarding the status of their application.

  9. Screening and Interview Stages
  10. Selected candidates may be invited to participate in the following stages:

    • One or more interviews with the hiring team

    • Reference checks

    • Law Society checks

    • Security screening

  11. Decision and Offer (Order In Council)
  12. The process can take several months to complete.
