Publication Ban Notification System

NOTIFICATION OF APPLICATIONS FOR DISCRETIONARY PUBLICATION BANS

A party in a Supreme Court criminal, quasi-criminal or civil proceeding who intends to apply for a discretionary publication ban or to exclude the public from the courtroom is required by Practice Direction 56 (PD-56) to complete the form on this page. This requirement does not apply to family proceedings and other types of proceedings listed in PD-56.

Once completed and confirmed, the information contained in the form will be automatically transmitted by RSS and will be viewable by all subscribers to the RSS feed. For this reason, the specific information sought to be protected by a publication ban (e.g. witness or complainant's name or identifying information) should not be included in this form.

Completion of this form is solely to notify subscribers that an application will be made. It does not constitute or substitute for the application, which must be brought in accordance with the Criminal Rules or Supreme Court Civil Rules, whichever is relevant to the proceeding.
