BC Courthouse Libraries
There are 28 courthouse libraries in communities throughout British Columbia where you can do legal research for your case. The Vancouver Courthouse Library, at 800 Smithe Street in Vancouver (the Vancouver Law Courts building) is the largest library. The website also has helpful links to other sources of legal information.
If you are representing yourself, you will have to prepare your case and do some research about the law that applies to your case. Our website has information about all of the courts in British Columbia (the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, and Provincial Court) including the applicable Rules of Court, practice directions and judgments (decisions) of the courts. The easiest way to find judgments and legislation from other Candian courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, is by going to the CanLII website.
